Zhuyu Island, located in the eastern part of Nanji Island, is the second largest island of the Nanji Archipelago. The island resembles a monk in meditation, draped in a kasaya. The south of the island was once shaded by bamboo forests, offering exceptional scenery. Near the sea, there are distinctive formations, such as the Cormorant Reef, shaped like a cormorant, and the Standing Man Reef, resembling a giant. The Standing Man Reef is located 50 meters south of Zhuyu Island in the sea, an exposed reef within a dangerous circle containing two reefs. When waves crash against it, they create towering waves that are awe-inspiring. The hill is only 50 meters high and is 1000 meters west of Zhuyu Island. The island is 400 meters long and 100 meters wide, resembling a pole for carrying rice bundles, commonly known as Rice Pole Hill, or Rice Carrying Hill. The island is completely devoid of trees and grass, leaving it bare. It is one of the baseline points of China’s coastline, and the Pingyang County People’s Government erected a monument here in October 1985 to mark the occasion.
