Zixu Wild Ferry, nestled at the entrance of Zhejiang Province’s Zixu Gorge, is renowned for both its breathtaking scenery and a poignant historical tale. The story revolves around Wu Zixu, a renowned general from the Chu State, who was forced to flee from King Ping of Chu and seek asylum in the State of Wu. As he journeyed through this region, he encountered a formidable river that barred his path. Providentially, a white-haired boatman appeared and assisted Wu Zixu in crossing the waters.
In a selfless act of loyalty, the boatman chose to end his own life to ensure that Wu Zixu’s pursuers would not discover the general’s escape route. This act of sacrifice has been immortalized in the naming of ‘Zixu Wild Ferry,’ a tribute to the boatman’s devotion. The story is further commemorated with an inscription on the stone wall of the ferry, serving as a lasting reminder for posterity.
Visitors to Zixu Wild Ferry can explore the site from January 1st to December 31st, with the attraction remaining open throughout the day.
