Zizhuyuan Park: A Kingdom of Bamboos and Summer Lotuses

Upon arriving at Zizhuyuan Park, one steps into the kingdom of bamboos. The park features bamboo pavilions, bamboo pavilions, bamboo tables, bamboo chairs, and even bridges of various sizes are adorned with bamboo. It is also an excellent place in Beijing to enjoy lotus flowers in summer. Rowing on the lotus pond, one can smell the fragrance of lotus flowers amidst the cool breeze, making for a very pleasant experience.


As the park focuses on bamboo scenery, the spectacular Dong Village Wind and Rain Bamboo Bridge allows visitors to experience the fun of the Dong people in Guizhou taking shelter from the rain and resting on the bridge; the Ship Bridge is a large bamboo boat with bamboo awnings and windows. Along the lakeshore, the bustling Bamboo Market street is constructed with bamboo, where people gather to drink tea, taste bamboo cuisine, and purchase a variety of bamboo daily necessities and handicrafts, highlighting the significant role of bamboo in daily life.


The park also offers entertainment facilities such as the Lotus Ferry, as well as multiple piers to the east, south, and north. From mid-to-late March to the end of October each year, visitors can take a boat ride to enjoy the lake’s scenery. Additionally, the park includes small amusement facilities like the Flower and Fruit Mountain Rafting, Battle of Aden Bay, and Happy Joy Island, where parents can bring their children to relax and unwind on weekends.


The park is open all year round from 06:00 to 21:30, with summer hours from 06:00 to 21:00 and closing time at 22:00; winter hours from 06:00 to 20:00, with closing time at 21:00.
