The Zongbing Mansion was the yamen of the generals stationed in Nan’ao in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was initially built in 1576, the fourth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, by Yan Jifang, the deputy general stationed in Nan’ao at that time. The current building was rebuilt in 1933. In front of the Zongbing Mansion, there are currently one 8,000-jin and one 6,000-jin earth cannon left. In addition, there are two large banyan trees in front of the mansion. It is said that they are 410 years old. One of the trees has a circumference of 14 meters. With lush branches and leaves and exuberant vitality, it is said that Zheng Chenggong gave a speech under the tree in the late Ming Dynasty. So this tree is later also called the ‘recruitment tree’. On the right side wall of the mansion, 23 ancient steles preserved in Nan’ao throughout the ages are embedded. One of them is China’s earlier port regulations and one is a tax stele, which have important historical and cultural relic value. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00. From 8:30 to 18:00, and no admission after 17:00.
