Zou Rong was born in Ba County of Chongqing (now Yuzhong District). At the age of 19, he completed the astonishing ‘The Revolutionary Army’. When he was tortured to death in prison at the age of only 20. In February 1912, he was posthumously awarded as ‘General’ by Sun Yat-sen. The people of Chongqing have not forgotten this ‘forerunner in the revolutionary army’ more than 100 years ago and are proud of him. The former Southern District Park was named Zou Rong Park. There is a monument to martyr Zou Rong in the park. It was initially built in 1946. The monument is an octagonal tower-shaped stone tablet, with a total height of 5.5 meters. The height of the tablet body is 3.52 meters. The slope is octagonal. On four sides, there are seven vertical official script characters of ‘Monument to Martyr Zou Rong’. The height of the pedestal is 1.71 meters. All eight sides are engraved with inscriptions. Open all year round and all day.
