This exhibition continues Bradford’s creative work and pushes it to a significant level of innovative ideas. Through the perspective of individual experiences, it interprets the lasting impact of colonialism and the concept of ‘otherness’ with a series of innovatively formed artworks.

The exhibition includes about 20 new paintings, where Bradford uses his signature staining technique to create shadow-like marks on canvas with joint filler, continuing the artist’s exploration of the concrete. These forms inject a sense of fantasy and strangeness into the artist’s multi-layered compositions.

The exhibition focuses on a group of paintings themed around agave, a monocarpic species that only blooms once at the end of its life cycle. These new works are inspired by encyclopedias from the 1970s that cataloged ‘foreign’ plants from a Western perspective, discussing how we imagine, internalize, and project a sense of ‘otherness’ onto things we may name but do not yet understand.

Open from September 26th to March 1st, with specific business hours subject to daily opening conditions.
