Chinese civilization is one of the four great ancient civilizations of the world, profound and extensive, with a long and enduring history. It is also the only ancient civilization that has not been interrupted and has continuously developed in the form of a nation to this day. In 2002, the country launched the ‘Chinese Civilization Traceability Project’. Over the past two decades, the ‘Traceability Project’ has achieved fruitful results. Through rich archaeological discoveries and in-depth investigations and research, it has not only organized the historical context of the origins of Chinese civilization, providing evidence for over five thousand years of Chinese civilization; it has also demonstrated the diversity of the origins of Chinese civilization, with different regions and cultures interacting and absorbing from each other, eventually integrating into one, forming the pattern and characteristics of the Chinese nation’s unity and diversity.
The exhibition focuses on the archaeological excavations of the ‘Traceability Project’ and significant discoveries in Chinese archaeology over the past century. More than one hundred exhibits from fourteen institutions in mainland China and Hong Kong cover nine archaeological cultures and nine major archaeological sites, tracing the historical context of the origins, formation, and development of Chinese civilization, highlighting the brilliant achievements of Chinese civilization and its great contributions to human civilization. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Palace Museum of Cultural Relics and the China Cultural Relics Exchange Center, and is sponsored by the museum’s strategic partner, Bank of China (Hong Kong). The exhibition is open from September 25th to February 7th, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.【China Hong Kong】’The Origins of Chinese Civilization’ Presented by Bank of China (Hong Kong)
