The story begins in the Qing Dynasty with the merchant ship ‘Taixing,’ which was also the largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship at the time. It set sail in 1822, but unfortunately, it hit a reef and sank on its way to Indonesia, with nearly 2000 people on board, aside from the commercial products it carried. The cargo of this ship covered various aspects, including ceramics, silk, tea, and spices.
