Zheng He Cultural Park is the tomb of the famous Ming Dynasty navigator, Zheng He. Born as Ma He, also known as Sanbao, Zheng He came from a Muslim family in Yunnan. In the 14th year of the Hongwu era, he followed the deputy commander Lan Yu of the Ming Dynasty’s Yunnan expeditionary force to Nanjing and entered Prince Zhu Di’s residence. Later, he followed Zhu Di to achieve outstanding military merits in the ‘Jingnan Rebellion’, was promoted to the position of the Grand Eunuch of the Inner Palace, and was granted the surname ‘Zheng’ by Emperor Zhu Di, hence known as Zheng He.

From the third year of the Yongle era to the eighth year of the Xuande era, Zheng He embarked on seven voyages to the Western Seas, overcoming numerous hardships, engaging in cultural exchanges with countries along the coast, promoting friendship, and opening the Maritime Silk Road. He accomplished a great feat in human history and became the world’s first intercontinental navigator. The park is open all year round from 08:30 to 17:30.
