Zhangjiangkou Mangrove Nature Reserve is located at the estuary of Zhangjiang River in Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. Its geographical coordinates are 117°24′07″ to 117°30′00″ east longitude and 23°53′45″ to 23°56′00″ north latitude. The reserve covers a total area of 2360 hectares and is a very important wetland ecosystem type nature reserve in Fujian Province.
Within the reserve, the abundant planktonic flora and fauna provide an ideal habitat and foraging ground for over 150 species of birds, more than 240 species of aquatic animals, and nearly 400 species of aquatic life. The reserve is primarily focused on the protection of mangrove wetland ecosystems, endangered flora and fauna species, and aquatic genetic resources.
