The Qingdao Olympic Sailing and Marine Cultural Tourism Area is located in the Shinan District of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, covering an area of 5.25 square kilometers. It is composed of two major areas: the Underwater World and the Olympic Sailing Center.
The Olympic Sailing Center served as the venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic sailing competitions, possessing a legacy of sailing Olympic heritage. It also has numerous valuable cultural resources left by significant events such as the Olympics, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, and the Navy Festival.
The Underwater World boasts over ten thousand rare marine life specimens, various national first and second-level protected animals, tens of thousands of rare marine creatures from around the world, and architectural landscapes with unique styles.
The tourism area relies on high-quality tourism resources to offer a full range of themed products, including marine sports, marine science education, and coastal leisure and entertainment. It aims to develop the scenic area into an international marine cultural tourism destination that integrates sailing, coastal leisure, cultural experiences, marine research, and convention tourism.
The area is open all year round, with full-day access.
