The Linyi Confucian Temple, also known as ‘Linyi Wenmiao’, is located in Lanshan Street, Linyi City, Shandong Province. It was first built in the Jin Dynasty. It was renovated and expanded in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 1998, the Linyi Municipal Government completed its restoration project and used it as the old site of the Linyi Museum. The Linyi Confucian Temple is now a group of ancient buildings in Ming and Qing styles. The entire building is rectangular, 155 meters long from north to south and 45 meters wide from east to west. Along the central axis from south to north are the front gate, two side halls, stele corridor, Dacheng Hall and Minglun Hall. Inside are enshrined statues of Confucius, four companions and twelve sages. The cultural, historical, artistic and scientific value of the cultural relics in the temple provides a large number of reliable physical materials for studying ancient Chinese politics, economy, military and culture.
