The Dongyi Culture Museum in Linyi has eight exhibition halls and two cinemas. There are exhibition halls on Dongyi cultural history from prehistoric times to before the Qin Dynasty, archaeological exhibition halls, custom exhibition halls, agricultural exhibition halls, craft exhibition halls, handicraft exhibition halls, and social exhibition halls. These wonderful chapters present the prehistoric Dongyi civilization in a better way through the display of cultural relics. So far, the Dongyi Culture Museum in Linyi has a total collection of 1036 cultural relics. Most of the collections come from local archaeological excavations and folk collections, and have typical local characteristics and high research value. Among them, pottery and stone tools from the Neolithic Age are relatively abundant: eggshell pottery high-stemmed cups that are ‘as thin as paper, as hard as porcelain, as bright as a mirror, and as black as lacquer’; uniquely shaped pottery gui; finely ground stone battle-axes, stone spades, and double-hole stone knives. Its cultural and historical value provides a large amount of physical materials for the study of Chinese Dongyi culture.
