The Beilun Estuary National Nature Reserve, located in the Fangchenggang City’s Fangcheng District and Dongxing City, covers an area of thirty square kilometers. It is a nature reserve primarily focused on the protection of mangrove ecosystems.
The reserve’s geographical location is unique, with the estuary and bay area home to a large contiguous area of mangroves along the Chinese mainland’s coastline. It features pure forests of Sonneratia caseolaris and communities of Acanthus ilicifolius, representing typical bay mangroves and rare large areas of mangroves below average sea level.
The mangroves also host a wealth of marine biological resources and bird species, making it an important stopover for migratory birds.
Open all year round from January 1st to December 31st, accessible 24/7.
