Baiyun Cave is located at the western foot of Jiuli Mountain, an ancient battlefield where the Chu and Han states contended. According to research, it was formed more than 5 million years ago and is a limestone cave. The lofty cave, deep underground river, dense scenery and magical legends combine to form a magnificent cave wonder. The area is nearly 10,000 square meters. Su Dongpo, a literary figure in the Song Dynasty, once left the beautiful line: ‘A beautiful place is not easy to recognize, and those who come later will know.’ The couplet written by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, ‘The miraculous trace is admired for thousands of years, and the immortal trace flows for all eternity,’ is still inlaid on both sides of the cave entrance. Su Dongpo, a literary figure in the Song Dynasty, once left the poem ‘A beautiful place is not easy to recognize, and those who come later will know.’ Ma Hui, a poet in the Ming Dynasty, wrote at the place where Fan Kuai ambushed and planted flags: ‘The wild fire in the sky connects Gaixia, and the setting sun and the blue smoke connect Pei Zhong. Only the trace of the flag is different.
