After a five-year hiatus, we are finally bringing back the authentic world-class musical Cats! In 2024, the national tour of Cats is about to commence, with the original cast reassembled and a powerful lineup making a stunning return, once again presenting this world-famous ‘must-see musical’ to Chinese audiences! The legendary work that has broken records numerous times and won countless awards premiered on May 11, 1981, at the New London Theatre in London’s West End, where it ran for 21 years. Eight years after its debut, Cats set its first milestone with a record of 3,358 performances, becoming the longest-running musical at the New London Theatre. In January 1996, Cats achieved the remarkable feat of 6,141 consecutive performances, making it the longest-running musical in the West End. In 1982, Cats successfully made its way to Broadway, where it continued to create an enduring legend. From 1997 to 2006, Cats was the longest-running musical in Broadway history. To date, Cats has been translated into more than 20 languages, has been performed in over 30 countries and cities, and has had over 9,000 performances in London alone. ‘Moon Goddess’ Sarah Brightman, renowned singer Elaine Paige, and many other artists have passionately performed the immortal song ‘Memory’ from Cats, with over 180 recorded versions by 150 artists worldwide. In the UK alone, ‘Memory’ has been played more than 46,875 times on radio and television media, and in the United States, it has been played over a million times. The show will be open from December 10th to December 15th, subject to the actual performance schedule.
