Adhering to the spirit of continuous challenge and self-innovation, the restaurant reopened in April 2016 after renovation. The brand-new Jean-Georges includes the main dining area, three private rooms, a bar and an open kitchen. Shanghai’s Jean-Georges French restaurant was selected as a Michelin-recommended restaurant in 2017 and has been honored with one Michelin star for five consecutive years from 2018 to 2022.
Regarding Three on the Bund. Three on the Bund is an outstanding historical building in Shanghai. It was built in 1916 and has a history of 104 years. The main building body adopts the Neo-Renaissance style. It is the first all-steel structure building in Shanghai. The steel frame is customized from the famous German Krupp factory. The exterior decoration is Baroque. The building was originally used as the Chinese branch of the Security Insurance Company. After the War of Resistance, the building changed hands several times and was finally acquired by the owner of Three on the Bund in 1997.
The Three on the Bund building has won numerous awards. Representative awards include the Asia Design Awards’ ‘Best Designed Building in Greater China’. With the vision of recreating the elegance of the Bund, the owner of Three on the Bund entrusted the original ‘Union Building’ to the well-known American architect Michael Graves to be responsible for the interior renovation of the building. In September 2004, Three on the Bund officially opened.
