On May 10, 2020, at 23:20, the author published an account of a one-day hiking activity in Shanghai. The destination was the Chunhua Qiuse Ecological Park in Nanhui New City, a new addition to the urban green belt in the Lin-gang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Accidentally learning about this park, the author decided to explore it on the afternoon of May 10, 2020. The Chunhua Qiuse Ecological Park is a part of the urban park belt that has been constructed in Lin-gang, Shanghai, in recent years. It is situated between Huanhu South Second Road and Huanhu South Third Road in the main urban area of Lin-gang New City, spanning approximately 134.65 hectares, which includes 110.85 hectares of land and 23.8 hectares of original river area. The park was developed with an investment of 230 million yuan.
Originally a tidal flat wetland, the area underwent a transformation that included the combing of water systems, revetments, wetlands, forestlands, and terrains. This involved soil improvement, greening planting, terrain creation, the construction of garden roads and squares, landscape bridges, landscape water supply and drainage, landscape lighting, and the transformation of internal river revetments. As a result, an urban green space with the character of a country park has been formed.
To accentuate the natural beauty of the countryside, mixed flower seeds are sown according to the seasons, ensuring that there are blooming flowers in spring, summer, and autumn. The park also gathers melons, fruits, and trees with ornamental value in Shanghai. It is reported that the Chunhua Qiuse Ecological Park was completed and opened to the public during the National Day in 2017.At that time, my unit was still in Lin-gang, but I didn’t know about this. Originally planned to enter the park from the north side of the Chunhua Qiuse Park on Huanhu South Second Road. Due to the inability to find a parking space for a while, I went around and entered the park from the south side on Huanhu South Third Road.
The park is open, so there is no park gate in the usual sense. The Chunhua Qiuse Ecological Park is arranged in a circular belt along the Chunlian River. Coming to the waterfront vitality area of Chunhua Qiuse. Strolling eastward along the south bank of the Chunlian River and heading to the wetland island. Along the way, the water flows meanderingly, the clear water flows gently, the banks are full of orchids and iris, and the reeds are lush, presenting a natural wild charm. The only drawback is the weather. The gloomy sky somewhat affects the beauty of the scenery. If there is the contrast of blue sky and white clouds, the scenery will be much better.
The north bank of the Chunlian River is the barbecue and camping area of the Chunhua Qiuse Park, where there are many lawns. The tower-shaped building near the river is the observation deck. Standing on it and looking out, you can overlook the surrounding scenery of the park. I will go up and have a look next time when I come to the Chunhua Qiuse Park again.
Leaving the waterfront vitality area and walking westward along the south bank of the Chunlian River. From time to time, seagulls and herons are seen flying over the water among the reeds and calamus by the Chunlian River. The street lights near the ground in the park are already lit up, emitting a faint yellow light as it is past 5 pm. This area is the lake where seagulls and herons fly together, their silhouettes dancing against the evening sky. The yellow wildflowers and grass by the riverbank sway gently in the evening breeze, adding a touch of life to the tranquil scene. The reeds are lush, and the water is vast, evoking a certain artistic conception reminiscent of ‘The Book of Songs – Reeds’. Looking out by the water, on the other side, a touch of poetry and a faint sentiment pass gently between this misty water and twilight, creating an atmosphere that is both serene and deeply moving.
