The main locations for lotus viewing are concentrated in Tiande Lake Park, Xinghua’s ten thousand mu lotus pond, and Zhenhu National Wetland Park. The lotus pond in Tiande Lake Park is planted with the ‘Guangling Red’ variety imported from Yangzhou, known for its tall plants and bright flower colors.
In the midsummer season, various colored lotus flowers bloom in competition, resembling a group of graceful fairies. Xinghua’s ten thousand mu lotus pond is built around the theme of ‘Lotus Culture’, planting four major categories of lotus – lotus root lotus, seed lotus, flower lotus, and royal lotus – with 20 varieties and 36 strains, plus potted lotus flowers, totaling nearly a hundred varieties, divided into ornamental and edible categories. In Zhenhu National Wetland Park, lakes and rivers account for more than 30% of the area.
