In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, the ‘Dreams of Jiangnan – The 4th Shanghai Cultural and Tourism Art Exhibition’ was jointly organized by the Galaxy Entertainment Group, the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Shanghai-Macau Economic and Cultural Development Association. The exhibition was grandly opened at the Galaxy Art Collection in ‘Galaxy Macau’ on October 15, 2024.

The theme of this art exhibition is ‘Dreams of Jiangnan,’ featuring 40 Shanghai-style color ink works from four humanistic series by renowned artist Li Shoubai: ‘Ancient Town Poetry,’ ‘Misty Waterside Towns,’ ‘Jiangnan Dreams,’ and ‘Worldly Life.’ These works showcase the soft and elegant features and spiritual essence of Shanghai’s Shanghai-style art and Jiangnan culture, as well as the artist’s thoughts, feelings, and expressions in art. The exhibition invites Macau residents and student audiences to follow the artist’s paintings, through ancient streets and small towns, quiet water towns, and poetic bridges and streams, to experience the unique, enduring charm of Shanghai’s Jiangnan style.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland. It is hoped that through Shanghai-style art works, Macau residents can appreciate the unique charm of Shanghai’s water towns, feel the cultural landscape of different regions of the motherland, and enhance their sense of identification and pride in the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland. While paying tribute to the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, the exhibition further promotes cultural development cooperation between Shanghai and Macau, deepens international cultural and artistic exchanges, and leverages Macau’s role as a ‘bridge for exchange and cooperation based on mainstream Chinese culture and the coexistence of multiple cultures,’ to jointly promote the inheritance and development of the Chinese nation’s culture.

The exhibition is open from October 15th to November 15th, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening status.
