‘The Origin of Civilization: Exhibition on Exploring Early Chinese Civilization’ has been curated and planned for more than a year. It has brought together more than 30 cultural and museum institutions across the country, including the Palace Museum, Shaanxi History Museum, Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Liangzhu Museum, Erlitou Site Museum of the Xia Capital, Yinxu Museum, Sanxingdui Museum, etc. More than 400 cultural relics and exhibits are on immersive display. As one of the ‘Civilization Series Exhibitions’ of Beijing Minsheng Art Museum, ‘The Origin of Civilization: Exhibition on Exploring Early Chinese Civilization’ presents a panoramic view of the origin, development context and important achievements of Chinese civilization. It aims to explore the genes of continuous Chinese civilization and inspire contemporary Chinese people to know its origin, recognize its present and understand its future. The entire exhibition is specifically divided into three chapters: ‘All Nations in the World | Starlight of Civilization’, ‘All Nations Gathering | Many Ancient Kingdoms Standing’, and ‘Residing in China | The Rise of Dynasties’. The chapter ‘All Nations in the World | Starlight of Civilization’ focuses on ancient times and elaborates on the inevitable process of transition from primitive society to state form. Some regions with cultural and social development have emerged early states and entered a new era of ancient civilization. The chapter ‘All Nations Gathering | Many Ancient Kingdoms Standing’ comprehensively describes the stage from natural settlements to many ancient kingdoms standing. Early Chinese civilization renders a moving picture of the ‘Chinese-style’ creation of civilization. The chapter ‘Residing in China | The Rise of Dynasties’ outlines the ‘pluralistic integration’ civilization path in the ancient kingdom era. In the dynasty era, it embarked on a new journey and laid the foundation for the unified imperial era since the Qin and Han Dynasties. In addition to the heavyweight cultural relics and exhibits and the elemental narrative structure, there are also multiple sets of large-scale art installations on site, bringing an immersive viewing experience to visitors. ‘The simple and huge replicated mask, the towering columns, the solemn sacrificial restoration site, the magnificent light and shadow space, and the breathtaking AI bronze gallery…’ In a journey of time and space exploration full of imagination, it takes you through thirteen major cultural sites such as Yangshao, Hongshan, Liangzhu, Erlitou, Yinxu, and Sanxingdui in one stop. ‘The Origin of Civilization: Exhibition on Exploring Early Chinese Civilization’ starts from thirteen major cultural sites. Through cultural relics and exhibits, supplemented by various immersive scene experiences such as sculpture installations, new media art, and AI interactions, it presents the charm of early Chinese civilization in multiple angles and three-dimensionally. Innovatively integrating contemporary perspectives into the cultural relics exhibition, it has created an environmental field for multi-dimensional dialogue between modern and contemporary art forms and ancient civilization treasures in the time and space of inheritance and innovation, allowing viewers to be in a unique ‘civilization site’ and feel the unique beauty of civilization blending and historical evolution.
The opening hours are from October 1st to March 31st, Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 18:00; from October 1st to March 31st, closed all day on Monday.【Beijing】’The Origin of Civilization’ Exhibition on Exploring Early Chinese Civilization
