Orchestra Introduction:

The Philharmonic Light Orchestra (Music Fans Classical – MFC Orchestra) is a new ensemble that transcends classical and pop, integrating tradition with fashion. Unlike the most common and mature string quartets and other chamber ensembles in the world, the Philharmonic Light Orchestra’s regular formation consists of seven members, uniquely adding piano, clarinet, and percussion to the string quartet. Musically, the orchestra retains the classical style while adding contemporary pop elements. Looking at the entire Chinese music scene and the world, such a cross-boundary performing orchestra can be considered unconventional and unique.

With over 3,000 performances and an audience of more than ten million, the Philharmonic Light Orchestra has always been popular in the Chinese performance market. The orchestra focuses on live performances as the main breakthrough, spreading and popularizing live performing arts, breaking the stereotype of pure music art being elitist, and gaining much praise and love.

With skilled and exquisite playing skills, seamless cooperation, ample creative ability, and rich stage experience, the orchestra tours more than 300 performances in over 50 cities nationwide each year, with an audience of over a million, truly achieving music for the masses.

Some of the featured pieces include:

‘My Heart Will Go On’ – A song with a strong ethnic flavor, it reveals a melodious and poignant tone; the melody starts gently, builds to a passionate climax, and ends in a tragic yet lyrical finale, encapsulating the entire ‘Titanic’ film in just four minutes.

‘La La Land’ – Nominated for 14 awards at the 89th Academy Awards, setting a record for the most nominations for a single film, it won six awards including Best Director, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song. Its theme song ‘City of Stars’ won the Best Original Song at both the 74th Golden Globe Awards and the 89th Academy Awards.

‘Right Here Waiting’ – A Grammy-winning song with a beautiful melody and a timeless classic. The songwriter, Richard Marx, was recording in Australia and called his lover in the United States. His lover, much older than him, did not intend to continue their relationship. He wrote this song in 20 minutes as a dedication, which moved his lover, and they stayed together, showing the sincere emotions contained in this song.

‘City of Stars’ – A melody that blends with the enchanting night, serving as an entry to a city’s dream. The composer’s intricate thoughts start from an emotional perspective, making the melody hopeful yet tinged with sorrow. It captures the inner qualities and aesthetics of the city with its flowing and undulating rhythm. At this concert, the orchestra will perform a unique and unconventional rendition of several Oscar-winning movie theme songs.

‘If Love Has Destiny’ – ‘What’s there to discuss about feelings, young lady? Love has its own destiny.’ Love has no tragedy; waiting is the result. For spring, autumn is not a tragedy; for love, waiting is not a tragedy. What is waiting? Is it autumn? What is an ending? Being together? Marriage? A lifetime? Eternity? From the perspective of love, the moment I fell in love with you, it’s already the end.
Because love is predestined.

‘Por Una Cabeza’.

I will always stand one step away, waiting for her favor. ‘Por Una Cabeza’ is a famous Spanish tango song. The violin piece ‘Por Una Cabeza’ was composed by Argentine singer Carlos Gardel in 1935 and written by Alfado Lepela. In Spanish, ‘Por una Cabeza’ is originally a horse racing term, meaning ‘a head’s length short’. In the song, it is used to express the complicated and hard-to-give-up regret between lovers.
