The main deity enshrined in Daxi Cishèng Palace is Third Mother. It also enshrines Lady of Birth Giving and Shennong Emperor. It is an important religious center for the residents of Meihua Village. In 1770 (the 35th year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty), when Li Shanming, the ancestor of the Li family in Daxi, crossed the sea from Zhangzhou, Fujian Province to Taiwan, he brought a Heavenly Empress, commonly known as Third Mother, from Meizhou. He started his business in Xiaojiaojiao area. After his family business flourished day by day, he built a shrine to worship. Because of the prominent spiritual power of Mazu, villagers from far and near come to pray. As the ancestral hall was in disrepair for a long time, the believers established a reconstruction committee, launched a donation drive, and purchased nearby land to expand the scale of the temple, thus building today’s Cishèng Palace.
