Commissioned by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and co-produced by West Kowloon and the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, the original Cantonese musical ‘The Great Lawyer’ will make its mainland debut at the Shanghai Cultural Plaza in mid-June 2025, followed by a second performance at the Xiqu Centre. ‘The Great Lawyer’ premiered in 2022 and was reprised in 2023, sweeping ten local theatre awards that year and winning the ‘Outstanding Musical of the Year – Professional Theatre Original Musical’ at the inaugural Shanghai ‘2023 Performing Arts World Musical Trend Chart’ in February this year, marking its first mainland award and earning acclaim from both local and mainland audiences and the industry. The opening time is 06/17, with performance times and duration subject to the venue.
