Shaoxianggang is an early prosperous area of Xitang Ancient Town. It gets its name from the river. The dwellings here basically retain the style and features of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The small river flows leisurely. There are stone wharves embedded in the stone revetment one by one. Among the continuous houses, ancient lanes lead to the river in the front and reach the fields in the back, with a winding path leading to a secluded place in the middle. In the north of the port, there are Li’s big lane, small lane and Ni’s lane along Gaojie. In the south of the port, there is Fenbang Lane. Open all day all year round.
Must-see tips: When visiting Xitang, you must taste special snacks such as Grandma Guan’s stinky tofu, Lu’s small wontons, and Qian’s tofu pudding. There are also delicious foods such as steamed pork with rice flour, tied pork, Euryale ferox cake, and fermented glutinous rice balls.
