Dongpo Academy is closely associated with the prominent literary figure Su Dongpo in Chinese history. He was a brilliant talent, contributing significantly to the advancement of Chinese literature and art from various aspects, especially in prose, which is praised by the world and listed as one of the Eight Great Prose Masters of the Tang and Song dynasties.
The academy is located at the foot of Mount Shu in Dingxu Town, Yixing City, in the northeast corner. Surrounded by lush trees and the melodious chirping of birds, a small river quietly flows past the front gate of the academy, creating an elegant environment. The buildings inside are orderly and magnificent, simple and elegant, with a strong ethnic style. According to historical records, Dongpo Academy was built during the Northern Song Dynasty. Despite enduring a thousand years of changes and disasters, both natural and man-made, successive generations have valued culture and education, raising funds to meticulously repair and maintain it, ensuring its preservation to this day.
