Maoshan, a sacred Taoist mountain known as the residence of immortals from the Qin and Han dynasties and the family of prime ministers from the Liang and Tang dynasties, is located at the junction of Changzhou City in the west, Zhenjiang City in the southwest, and the border between Jintan District of Changzhou and Jurong City. It runs from north to south, covering an area of over 50 square kilometers.
Maoshan is a renowned Taoist mountain in Jiangsu Province, China, and the birthplace of the Shangqing sect of Taoism, referred to as the ‘Shangqing Altar’ by Taoists. It is acclaimed as the ‘First Blessed Land, Eighth Cavern Heaven’ and is also one of the six major mountainous anti-Japanese bases in China. Positioned as a destination for ‘Taoist health preservation, leisure vacation, and ecological sightseeing,’ Jintan City has successively restored ancient Taoist temples such as Qianyuan Temple, Chongshou Temple, and Yuanyang Temple in recent years. Additionally, a comprehensive planning of 108 square kilometers of Maoshan tourism has been carried out, highlighting the Taoist, landscape (hot springs), tea culture, and educated youth culture of Maoshan. Efforts have been made to attract investment, bringing in leisure tourism projects such as Baosheng Garden, Ziyun Lake, Oriental Salt Lake City, and Jinsha Bay Country Club. The scenic area is open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific opening times for each attraction within the scenic area subject to the regulations of the scenic spot.
