Tongjin Bridge is located on the ancient canal of Dongda Street, at the intersection of the cross-shaped water system. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was a bustling silk trade center in Nanxun. When visiting Tongjin Bridge, one must not miss the small street called Sihuan Du, located to the south of the bridge, known for its silkworm industry. Numerous poems describe the thriving trade on Tongjin Bridge, with Cao Renhu’s straightforward and easily passed-down verse from the Qianlong era being particularly notable: ‘Hearing that this year’s silk prices are good, many boats are sold at the mouth of Tongjin Bridge’ (from ‘Puxi Bamboo Branch Words’).

Built during the Song Dynasty, Tongjin Bridge underwent several renovations during the Qing Dynasty. The bridge is a single-arch stone bridge, 28 meters long and 4 meters wide, with 33 steps on both the upper and lower sides, making it a very famous bridge in Nanxun. When coming to Nanxun, please linger on Tongjin Bridge, gaze at Sihuan Du, and reminisce about the prosperous trade scene of the past, where ‘villagers rushed to sell silk, the market was so crowded that one could hardly move, and thousands of voices filled the ears.’ The opening hours are subject to the daily operational status.
