Yu Rentian (1908-1984) was an outstanding figure in the Zhejiang School of painting art. At the age of seven, he began to practice calligraphy, and at eleven, he started painting and seal carving. By the age of seventeen, he was capable of composing poetry, and at nineteen, he entered the Zhejiang School of Fine Arts for further studies. He later became a professional painter, wrote books and essays, and was one of the founders of the Longyuan Seal Society, the second-largest seal society in China.

The Yu Rentian Memorial Hall is divided into two floors. The first floor is entirely dedicated to images and texts illustrating Yu Rentian’s life and achievements; the second floor mainly showcases his works, exhibiting 50 calligraphy and painting pieces donated by his children, 16 seal carving works, as well as 225 items including his personal belongings, calligraphy and painting supplies, rubbings, and manuscripts.
