In the present of the twenty-first century, the advent of the post-human era presents us with a brand new body aesthetics. Under the development of biotechnology, bionic machinery and artificial intelligence, the body is no longer a purely physical existence, but a complex entity that is always in a state of ‘becoming’, being changed and reshaped. The exhibition ‘New Treatise on the Entirety in the New Century’ hopes to inherit the revolutionary influence brought by ‘New Treatise on the Entirety’ in body research in the nineteenth century and reconstruct the body from a ‘generative’ perspective as an open and diverse field.
In this field, artists equally explore any entity: the ‘infection’, ‘blending’ and ‘transformation’ of the body by machinery and other living beings in the natural ecology, and reflect the problem consciousness of technical ethics between the flesh and machinery, as well as the thinking based on the relationship between species judged as ‘others’ by humans and humans.
