Mituo Temple, originally constructed during the Tang Dynasty, is a Buddhist temple situated within the Penglai Pavilion scenic area. Once a prominent temple, it faced a period of decline due to anti-Buddhist movements, though it was spared from demolition and eventually saw monks and nuns return to secular life, leading to a period of neglect. In the 11th year of the Wanli era (1583 AD), the renowned Buddhist monk Han Shan Deqing, one of the four great Zen monks of the late Ming Dynasty, came to Shandong to preach, leaving a profound impact on the Buddhist community in the region, with his disciples spreading across various locations. At this time, the incense at Mituo Temple within Penglai Pavilion once again flourished, and the temple gradually expanded to its current size. It is open to visitors all year round from 08:00 to 17:00; for specific visiting hours, please consult the scenic area.
