In the northwest corner of Furong Village, Nanxi River, there is a large mansion known as the ‘Sima Residence’. It was built by Chen Shiluan, a wealthy local resident, in the fifteenth year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. It is composed of three quadrangles side by side, with a total width of 70 meters. There are 15 central halls, 6 patios, 24 altars, and 58 houses. It also has a garden, a pond, and a well, covering an area of more than 6,000 square meters. Currently, 36 households of the Chen family still live in the Sima Residence. Each of the three quadrangles has its own door, and there are alleys connecting the courtyards. The width from the main entrance to the steps in front of the house is 18 meters, divided into several large courtyards. The entire residence appears open and friendly.
