In northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, Wuqi County is a place where revolutionary history meets remarkable environmental transformation. Once known for its barren hills and fragile ecosystem, the county has undergone dramatic changes through decades of determination and hard work.
In October 1935, the Chinese Red Army arrived in Wuqi, marking a significant moment in the Long March. Today, the Wuqi Memorial Park of the Victory of the Central Red Army’s Long March preserves this history and honors the spirit of perseverance and resilience.
But Wuqi’s story doesn’t end with its revolutionary past. For generations, residents struggled with soil erosion, harsh natural conditions, and limited resources. Beginning in the late 1990s, large-scale ecological restoration efforts gradually transformed the landscape. Hills once stripped of vegetation are now covered with thriving forests and grasslands.
Through interviews with local residents, historical reflections, and sweeping aerial footage, this documentary explores how Wuqi turned environmental challenges into opportunities for sustainable development.
From its revolutionary heritage to its greener mountains, modern agriculture, and improving livelihoods, Wuqi’s journey tells a compelling story of resilience, renewal, and the determination to build a better future.
