The China Yangtze Alligator Village is located in the southwest of Changxing County. It is one of the two natural reserves for Yangtze alligators in China. The Yangtze alligator is a high-level protected animal in China. There are thousands of Yangtze alligators in captivity in the scenic area. There are also some interactive experience projects, which are suitable for bringing children to gain knowledge. The scenery in the scenic area is also good. If the weather is fine, it is very pleasant to walk with relatives and friends and see the Yangtze alligators. The scenic area has two gates, north and south. The new gate (north gate) is by the new 318 national highway in Changxing section, very close to the Changxing service area of Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway. It is convenient for self-driving to enter the scenic area through this gate. The distance between the north and south gates is nearly 1 kilometer. There is a vast expanse of water in the middle, dividing the land into many islands. There are winding corridors connecting them, like a very large wetland park. Many small alligators are stocked in the water, allowing close contact with alligators. At the closest, there is only a layer of wire mesh. In the popular science museum near the north gate, there are some pictures and texts, which can give a general understanding of the Yangtze alligator. Walking all the way south, Feilong Terrace and Yuelong Terrace are the highest places in the scenic area and also the best places for viewing. Standing on the platform, you can see the swaying reeds and undulating woods in the pond. With the high-power telescope on Feilong Terrace, you can also watch the thrilling scene of alligators leaping out of the water to catch waterbirds. During peak season, there are also cruise services in the scenic area (about 20 yuan). Tourists can take a water tour on the boat. On the way, they can also rest in the long pavilion and enjoy the surrounding scenery. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the old scenic area gate in the south. The greenhouse and peacock garden are also here. Since Yangtze alligators hibernate in winter, if you go in winter, basically you can’t see them active. Only a dozen can be seen in the greenhouse. When returning to the gate, walk on the plank road on the waterway on the viaduct, pass the koi pond, see the alligator fossil, walk on the oracle bone inscriptions trail, and enter the Mysterious Cave Home. Mysterious Cave Home is a relatively interesting interactive project in the scenic area. It is a maze made to imitate the alligator cave, which can satisfy tourists’ curiosity about the mysterious alligator cave. Especially children will be very interested. The human-alligator performance project is also very wonderful.
