The China Agarwood Culture Museum is a thematic museum dedicated to the culture of agarwood, located within the Xiangshi Park in Liaobu Town, Dongguan City. The culture of agarwood in Liaobu has a long history and rich connotations. To promote and popularize the culture of agarwood, Liaobu Town has established a fragrance culture-themed museum—the China Agarwood Culture Museum. Situated within Xiangshi Park, the museum officially commenced operations on September 1, 2015. The museum covers an area of 8,199 square meters with a total construction area of approximately 8,800 square meters. It was designed by He Jingtang, the designer of the China Pavilion at the World Expo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the dean of the School of Architecture at South China University of Technology.
The museum provides a detailed account of the historical development of traditional Chinese fragrance culture from ancient times to the present, which is highly educational in terms of cultural significance. It is equipped with modern audio-visual and electronic devices, offering a strong interactive experience. The museum houses a treasure—a huge incense burner cast with inscriptions during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, which is a testament to the museum’s cultural importance. It also collects agarwood from around the world, allowing visitors to journey through history and experience the immense charm of agarwood culture. The museum is one of the main bases for the dissemination of fragrance culture in China and around the world and serves as a window for citizens to understand the knowledge of agarwood culture from both China and abroad. Opening hours are not available on Mondays throughout the year; from Tuesday to Sunday, the museum is open from 09:00 to 17:00. Please refer to the daily opening status for specific business conditions. Preferential policies include: 1.
