He Shaoxia’s Former Residence is a representative residential building in Shawan Ancient Town, Panyu District, constructed during the Qing Dynasty. It features a double-layered hard mountain top structure with blue bricks, with the ground floor comprising blue bricks and granite stone feet, consisting of three rooms and two corridors, covering an area of approximately 105 square meters. The foundation and threshold are built with granite stones, and there is brick carving on the stone door lintel.
He Shaoxia (1894-1942) was one of the important writers of Guangdong music and Yue Opera, known for his widely circulated masterpieces such as ‘White Head Chant’ and ‘Deep Night’. The former residence is currently inhabited by his descendants and is well-preserved.
