The China National Film Museum was built in 2005 on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chinese films. It is a museum themed on films. In addition to learning about the development history of Chinese films at various stages in the museum, it is also a cinema. Many classic old movies and new movies of the moment can be watched here. The exhibition areas of the film museum are mainly divided into six exhibition areas, namely the foyer, the invention of film, the birth and early development of Chinese films, Chinese films during the war period, the establishment and development of new Chinese films, and Chinese films in the new era of reform and opening up.
In addition, there are also special exhibitions of various film genres such as art films, children’s films, scientific education films, dubbed films, and news documentary films. You can visit them one by one after entering. A cursory visit takes about 2 hours. The exhibitions in several major exhibition halls show the development context of Chinese films over more than a hundred years. The exhibition system is detailed and it is an excellent place for tourists interested in films to learn knowledge. There are ancient film projection equipment and props in the exhibition hall, as well as restoration of early film sets. The exhibits are very rich. Among them, the more precious ones are Zheng Zhengqiu’s study, a hand-cranked silent film projector made in Germany, and the metal base of the photo taken by Ren Qingtai at the age of 70. Many exhibits have iconic status in the history of Chinese film development and you can take a good look. In addition to watching exhibitions, the museum is also a cinema and has the world’s largest giant film screen. New movies currently online will be shown here. Generally, the ticket price is a bit cheaper than that of regular cinemas outside. In addition, there will be several screenings of classic old movies here every day.
