The Overseas Chinese Town Ecological Plaza is located in the central part of Overseas Chinese Town, Shenzhen City, facing Dongjing and Happy Valley on the west side, and adjacent to China Travel Plaza on the south side. It also features the Happy Valley Light Rail Station as the main entrance to the plaza. On the north side lies China Travel College and Yanhan Mountain. The plaza covers an area of 4.6 hectares, consisting of two major parts: the Aegle Plaza and Aegle Ecological Garden, divided into six smaller parks. It includes a 20,000 square meter underground parking lot with 700 spaces and a 10,000 square meter community center, which houses services such as bars, tea rooms, boutique shops, Chinese and Western dining, art galleries, fitness centers, and a community library.
Located at the junction of residential communities and urban green spaces, the Ecological Plaza essentially serves as a community center, concentrating on entertainment facilities such as bars and high-end dining, with supermarkets and department stores nearby. It connects one end to residential areas and the other end to urban parks, efficiently leveraging its value and providing strong vitality to the area. The Overseas Chinese Town Ecological Plaza is designed based on ecological concepts, using simple and lively design techniques to reflect the new philosophy of urban construction in the 21st century. The layout follows the water system’s flow, which is roughly as follows: dry spray plaza (and sports field) – wetland pond – children’s water play area – planting pond – natural stream – natural simulated water landscape.
