Originally named Changli Jinyuan (Beijing) Tropical Botanical Garden, Yalugu Tropical Botanical Garden was renamed in October 2014. It is currently a scenic area in Beijing with a relatively complete variety of tropical plants and tropical fruit trees and a large scale. It is a comprehensive tourist scenic area integrating tropical plant sightseeing, tropical fruit picking, popular science education, catering, accommodation, conferences, fitness and entertainment.
It opened in October 2006, covering a total area of 300 mu and with an investment of about 200 million yuan. It is located in Changziying Town, Daxing District. The sightseeing hall collects tropical fruit trees, tropical beverage plants, tropical ornamental plants, tropical medicinal plants, palm plants, tropical endangered plants, tropical rare plants and vegetable crops. There are about 300 tropical and subtropical species, and new varieties are continuously introduced from home and abroad. It is currently the sightseeing hall with the most complete tropical and subtropical species in Beijing. Tropical cash crops include coffee, cocoa, canistel introduced from Cuba, flame tree with ‘leaves like feathers of a flying phoenix and flowers like a crown of a red phoenix’, ‘golden panda tree’ which looks like a cute panda face, rosewood with grimace-like texture, camphor tree that filters toxic air, mimosa that will be shy when touched, euphorbia tirucalli that can be enjoyed on Singles’ Day, miracle fruit that changes people’s taste, durian honey introduced from abroad, Indonesian fruit trees, jaboticaba tree with grapes on the trunk, breadfruit with fruit taste like bread, artocarpus hypargyreus that clears the lungs and reduces cough, and panax notoginseng that stops bleeding and reduces inflammation. There are also famous, rare and special fruit trees, forest trees and horticultural plant varieties, as well as wild plant resources and rare species such as dinosaur trees from the same era as dinosaurs.
