Liu Gong Island Expo Garden is a comprehensive tourist park that integrates a long history and rich culture, as well as high-tech and exquisite art. The area is divided into three parts:
The Liu Gong Cultural Area features a large-scale colored jade wall carving that vividly brings to life the legends of Liu Gong, dragon culture, and the whale fairy.
The Qiong Island Historical Area serves as a grandstand for the history of Liu Gong Island, with a colorful prehistoric culture and a dramatic history spanning from the Qin, Han, Tang, Ming, Qing dynasties to the Liberation War. The Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 and the British lease of Liu Gong Island are two themes that complement each other, with technological means and the vicissitudes of Qiong Island organically integrated.
The Jiaodong Folklore Area’s main architectural symbol, the Sea-Viewing Tower, was built by the Tang Dynasty Dengzhou Governor to welcome Empress Wu Zetian’s inspection. The large-scale carvings inside the tower are breathtaking. From the tower, one can overlook the sea and mountains, encapsulating the saying ‘Climbing the tower brings fortune, and gazing at the sea presents auspiciousness.’ The garden is open all year round from 07:30 to 17:30.
