Zi Wei Cave, also known as Zi Wei Dong and Shuang Jing Dong, is located in the northern suburbs of Chaohu and is named for its two natural well-like exits. It is a typical karst cave with an underground river meandering through it, featuring various stalactites and stalagmites. Although it may not be as fantastic and beautiful as caves in Guilin, it is still quite famous in the local area due to the scarcity of such caves around Hefei and Chaohu.
The ticket prices vary; paying a 15 yuan entrance fee is akin to visiting a large park, as it does not include access to Zi Wei Cave or the Gallery of Strange Stones. However, other attractions such as Wang Qiao’s Maze (Wang Qiao Dong), the Tomb of the First Lady, and Bao’en Temple can be visited. Wang Qiao’s Maze is particularly noted for its cliff carvings, with hundreds of small Buddha statues without heads, except for one slightly larger Buddha with a head, which is quite mysterious. It is recommended to purchase the 60 yuan package ticket, which includes all attractions except the Gallery of Strange Stones, and of course, the main attraction, Zi Wei Cave, is included. The stalactites inside the cave resemble figures such as the Gourd Immortal, Monkey Fishing for the Moon, and Pigsy Looking in a Mirror, presenting a variety of shapes. However, overall, their development is quite average. The short boat ride inside the cave seems to be more attractive to visitors, offering an adventurous experience. The 70 yuan full ticket includes all attractions, including the Gallery of Strange Stones, which displays a variety of stones. Visitors have mixed opinions about the gallery, but if you are a stone enthusiast, it is worth a visit. Opening hours are from 08:00 to 16:30 all year round.
