Zi Peng Mountain is located in the southwest of Hefei city, Anhui Province, just 18 kilometers away from the urban area, connected to the city by the ‘Forest Avenue’. The park covers nearly a hundred square kilometers of national forest land. Some of the more well-known scenic spots include Zi Peng Mountain, Yuan Tong Mountain, Zhou Gong Mountain, and Da Qian Mountain. The ecological environment of the forest is well-preserved, with a total forest area of 3,500 hectares, more than 470 types of plants, and over 120 species of birds, including more than 30,000 egrets.


Major historical sites in Zi Peng Mountain include: the famous temple of Western Lu from the Three Kingdoms period – Xi Lu Temple; the tomb of the Western Han general Li Ling’s descendant and general of the Three Kingdoms Wei – Li Dian; the tomb of the famous general Ge Sheng from the Song Dynasty’s resistance against the Jurchens; the former residence of the famous monk Yuan Hongmo, who was a general of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and restored Xi Lu Temple and Mingjiao Temple; the former residence of Liu Mingchuan, the first governor of Taiwan – Liu Lao Wei, and the former residences of the famous Huai Army generals Zhang Shusheng, Zhou Shengbo, and Tang Diankui – Zhang Lao Wei, Zhou Lao Wei, and Tang Lao Wei.


Famous landscapes also include: the 21-meter high statues of the Buddha of the Present, Amitabha, and the Medicine Buddha, as well as the 15-meter high Maitreya Buddha cliff sculptures, statues of Kumarajiva and the 500 Arhats, as well as Bai Yun Temple, Qianshan Temple, Wen Chang Pavilion, Zhou Yu’s reading place, and Xi Yan Pond, among others.
