Tianhou Palace is nestled within a small alley, oriented north to south, and features both a front and a rear hall. A towering statue of Mazu stands in the courtyard between the two halls, with a large stone about the height of a person beneath her right hand. Flanking the courtyard are the eastern and western side halls. The main entrance of Tianhou Palace is located to the south, adorned with dragon and phoenix carvings, and guarded by two lions.
The front hall houses the deities of fortune, prosperity, and longevity, while the rear hall is dedicated to Mazu. Originally serving as a Fujianese merchants’ guild, the palace venerates the deities revered by the people of Southern Fujian. It is said that Mazu, the daughter of a fisherman named Lin Mo, was known for rescuing fishermen from maritime disasters alone, and she is regarded as the protective deity in the hearts of coastal residents. Tianhou Palace is open all year round from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.Tianhou Palace
