Da Shan Village, one of the top three selenium-rich villages in China, is located in the majestic mountains of Xian Yu Shan Town, Shitai County, Southern Anhui Province. It borders the Gu Niujiang Nature Reserve to the east and is connected to the famous ecological tourist area Xian Yu Mountain to the west; both are the main extensions of the Huangshan Mountain range to the west, with an elevation of over 1000 meters, making it an ancient and magical blessed land in the mountains.
Da Shan Village currently has a population of over 480 people, with 12% of them being over 80 years old. In the past 50 years, there has not been a single case of cancer among the villagers, nor has there been any obesity, earning it the well-deserved titles of ‘Longevity Village’ and ‘Slim Village’. The village consists of three natural villages, Wang Village, Li Village, and Hong Village, all of which are exceptionally scenic. The mountain ranges stretch and undulate, with ancient trees, valleys, and streams crisscrossing, springs and waterfalls, tea gardens on the hillsides, and terraced fields. Additionally, there are ancient villages from the Ming and Qing dynasties, selenium-rich springs, selenium-rich tea gardens, Shenlong Valley, General Rock, Tiger Rock, Frog Stone, Guanyin Cave, and Tianfang Lake, among others. These beautiful landscapes and the magical selenium-rich village together form a paradise full of charm and divine rhythm. In February 2004, experts from the Green Technology Center of the University of Science and Technology of China visited Da Shan Village and conducted soil tests, discovering that it is a rare selenium-rich village nationwide. The village is open year-round from 08:00 to 18:00.
