Furong Pavilion is a square hip-roofed waterside scenic building in the east of the Humble Administrator’s Garden. It is located to the north of the main hall, Lanxue Hall, and at the eastern end of the large lotus pond. The lotus pond is roughly rectangular, long from east to west and narrow from south to north. Therefore, there is a very deep waterscape in front of the small pavilion facing west.
Lotuses are planted in the water. The lotus is also known as hibiscus, hence the name of the small pavilion. Furong Pavilion has become a very distinctive scenery in the east. Especially on summer nights, when the bright moon is in the sky, the bright moon, the cool breeze, the moon shadow, and the lotus fragrance all come together, which can indeed bring a beautiful feeling to viewers. The interior decoration of the small pavilion is also extremely exquisite. The west side of the small pavilion facing the water is decorated with a carved round light cover. The east side is a floor-to-ceiling screen door. The north and south sides are simple window lattices, full of the elegant and scholarly atmosphere of small buildings in Suzhou gardens.Opening hours: Open all year round from 07:30 to 17:30.
