The Mercedes-Benz Culture Center, located by the riverside, stands proudly in the core area of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Park, adjacent to the Expo Axis and the China Pavilion. The entire building, with its light and agile design, resembles a flying saucer and emerges as a unique structure, akin to an ‘art sea shell,’ stunningly beautiful and dazzling.
Centered around an 18,000-seat main venue, the complex also includes a music club, a cinema, an ice rink, restaurants, and retail spaces. During the World Expo, it will host a variety of large-scale performances and events to meet the needs of the Expo’s large-scale cultural performances. It has also fully considered the subsequent utilization and sustainable development after the Expo, aligning with Shanghai’s positioning as an ‘international cultural metropolis.’
The Mercedes-Benz Culture Center is now open to the public for long periods, hosting irregularly scheduled super-sized celebrations and concerts, as well as basketball games, ice performances, and even ice hockey matches. Renowned artists such as Faye Wong, the Asian supergroup S.H.E., and American star Taylor Swift have all held concerts here. The large venue and advanced, futuristic live effects have left a lasting impression on fans.
Business area opening hours: 10:00-22:00; Venue opening hours are determined based on the timing of performances or events.
