Situated at the heart of Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, the Twin Bridges are composed of the Shi De Bridge and Yong An Bridge. The bridges feature a horizontal and vertical layout, with one arch being square and the other round, resembling an ancient key, hence the common name Key Bridge. In 1984, Chen Yifei’s painting ‘Memories of Hometown’ prominently featured the Twin Bridges, propelling them into fame and making Zhouzhuang well-known worldwide.
Originally constructed during the Ming Dynasty, the Twin Bridges have undergone several renovations. The reflection of Shi De Bridge on the water’s surface forms a perfect circle with the bridge arch, creating an aesthetically pleasing shape that attracts photographers and art students for photography and sketching. However, during holidays, the Twin Bridges often become a crowded spot in the ancient town, as every visitor wishes to take a photo with this iconic landmark. The Twin Bridges are open all year round from 07:30 to 19:50.Twin Bridges of Zhouzhuang
