The Shanghai Indoor Stadium, also known as the Ten Thousand People’s Gymnasium, was constructed in 1975, covering an area of 106,000 square meters with a building area of 47,800 square meters. It is one of the earlier large-scale sports venues in Shanghai.
Numerous concerts and cultural events are held here annually, which has led to the stadium’s alternative name, the Shanghai Grand Stage. The main structure of the Shanghai Indoor Stadium is a circular competition hall with a diameter of 114 meters and a height of 33 meters. The roof is made of a steel pipe grid structure, assembled with over 9,000 seamless steel pipes and 938 steel balls. The competition hall covers an area of 31,000 square meters and has a seating capacity of 18,000 in the main hall. It is equipped with modern facilities such as movable bleachers, folding basketball hoops, programmable lighting control equipment, air conditioning systems, and photoelectric control scoreboards. The stadium is open to the public from 09:00 to 19:30 all year round.Shanghai Indoor Stadium (Shanghai Grand Stage)
