Located 20 kilometers east of Cangzhou City in the town of Jiuzhou, Cang County, Cangzhou Ancient City spans an area of approximately 4.3 million square meters. The ancient city walls, originally about 40 meters wide, have a measured circumference of 7787 meters. It was initially constructed in the fifth year of the Western Han Dynasty under Emperor Gaozu (202 BC), and was known as the city of Fuyang. The old city walls are now incomplete, with only five sections of the western and southern walls remaining. Inside the ancient city, there are several ancient architectural sites, including the Iron Lion, the Iron Coin Treasury (where coins unearthed bear inscriptions of Chongning, Daguan, Zhenghe, and Xuanhe Tongbao), the Iron Furnace, and the Kaiyuan Temple. The area is also rich in cultural relics underground. The city was once named Lion City and Reclining Ox City. It is now listed as a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit. The opening hours are from March 6th to November 14th, 08:30 to 17:30; and from November 15th to March 5th, 08:30 to 17:00. The specific business status is subject to the daily opening conditions.
