Wulongtan Park is located in the center of Jinan City. It is only separated by one street from the famous Baotu Spring scenic area. The Wulongtan in the park is known as ‘the four famous springs in Jinan’ together with Baotu Spring, Heihu Spring and Zhenzhu Spring. The park is lush and beautiful. In addition to the clear and green Wulongtan, there are also twenty-seven small springs, as well as scenic spots such as the former residence of Qin Qiong, the Celebrity Pavilion, the ancient Liting Pavilion, the exhibition hall of calligraphy and seal cutting works by Wu Zhongqi, and the former site of the leading organs of Shandong Province. April and October every year are good times to visit Wulongtan Park. Especially in April, all kinds of flowers in the park are in full bloom and the fragrance is pleasant. It is suitable for enjoying flowers and springs. Wulongtan is surrounded by weeping willows and dotted with groups of rockeries. Tourists either sit on the low rockeries to watch the springs or sit on the stone railings by the pool to watch the fish. There are even children playing with water guns by the pool, very leisurely. However, pay attention to safety by the pool. The Celebrity Pavilion on the west bank of Wulongtan is a good place to watch the springs. There are groups of fish in Wulongtan. Tourists often throw food to attract fish in the corridor of the Celebrity Pavilion. Then they watch the groups of fish scrambling for food and rolling up and down. It is very beautiful. Therefore, this place has become a famous scenic spot of ‘watching fish in Wulongtan’. The building next to the Celebrity Pavilion was originally the ‘Tanxi Jingshe’ built by the famous scholar Gui Fu during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Now there is an exhibition hall here displaying the calligraphy and seal cutting works of Mr. Wu Zhongqi, a contemporary calligrapher. There is also a spring named ‘Seventy-three Springs’, but there is no water now. The Qin Qiong Shrine in the north of the park is a group of buildings in the style of the Tang Dynasty. It was once the former residence of Qin Qiong. There is a statue of Qin Qiong in military uniform in the shrine. In the southwest corner of the shrine courtyard, there is a stone tablet engraved with ‘the ancient residence of Qin Shubao, the great general of the left Wuwei of the Tang Dynasty and the Duke of Huguo’. It is said that it was erected when the descendants renovated the old residence in the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. It is said that Wulongtan is the spring group with the best water quality among the four famous springs in Jinan. This is due to many small springs surrounding it. Among them, the more famous ones are the Ancient Hot Spring on the southeast side of Wulongtan, the Xuanging Spring (also known as Xianqing Spring) on the north side, and the Tianjing Spring on the southwest end. You can find them one by one in the park.
